Cooking with a Toddler
Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 by tomonoAlthough the days are getting longer and brighter, it was a really, really cold day again here in the U.K., so I stayed at home in the afternoon with my son Oscar.
On this kind of day, what can you do witha super active 2 year old? Well, we decided to cook!
We had just bought some very fresh sprats from the fishmonger, so we made Nanbanzuke.
He was supposed to be helping me but his favourite part of cooking is nibbling and taking all the tupperwear out from draws!
How do you entertain your toddler at home in this kind of weather…?

Oscar helps line up the sprats

Catch them with your chopsticks!

Stealing carrots to nibble

Tupperwear all over the place

Mmmmm yummy!

How do Japanese people learn English?
Sunday, February 28th, 2010 by tomonoMy first English lesson was when I was 4 at Kindergarden. Every Tuesday an English teacher came to our class and I remember it was my favourite day of the week! There was lots of singing and games.
20years ago, I was taught academic style English rather than speaking and listening. So still even to this day ‘R’ sound and ‘L’ sound are still difficult to catch for me.
When we were house hunting a couple of years ago, we went viewing to one house. The owner was very kind and chatty. But he started talking about ‘Roger’. ‘Roger’ was staying here for a while, ‘Roger’s’ room was messy blah blah blah. I had a big question mark why this guy is telling me all about Roger - this guy I had never met? But I didn’t want to be rude so as soon as we stepped out his house I asked Lewis if he knew that ‘Roger’.
Well, Lewis started giggling and told me that the owner was not talking about Roger but a ‘Lodger’ who was living there.
Well, I learn from my mistake but I still can not pronounce R and L right…..
How do you study foreign language? If you don’t want to give up your gym time but also learn Japanese, here is an interesting solution I found on Youtube. One stone kills two birds…?
Oscar the pink nosed reindeer…
Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 by tomonoIt is just astonishing that my little baby boy has been observing me so closely.
He loves putting make up on nowadays and today he chose my favourite Estee Lauder pink lipstick and put it on a brush and then applied it all over his face and especially his nose…
My little pink nosed Rudolf.

Now, I wonder where my Santa is…
